World Book Day 2021
World Book Day was a bit different this year. Even though we were not all together, we celebrated virtually with Tallis Reads, book quizzes, dressing up and a virtual author visit by the award winning Kwame Alexander.

Virtual Author Visit - Adam Baron
On Thursday 9th July, we hosted our first ever virtual author visit with Adam Baron, best-selling author of Boy Underwater and You Won’t Believe This. Adam treated us to a funny and very personal talk, where he read out poems written by the Tallis community and answered questions from the audience. If you didn’t get a chance to watch the talk live, you can enjoy it here. Please note, you must be logged into your school email in order to watch it.

World Book Day 4th March 2020
Thomas Tallis School celebrated World Book Week with many exciting events to promote the importance of reading across the school. It was fantastic to see Staff and students dressed up as their favourite book characters and sharing their favourite book. Year 7 and 8 were treated to a visit from Alexandra Sheppard, author of popular young adult book Oh My Gods, who spoke about her inspiration for the book and gave lots of tips to aspiring writers. Alexandra also ran a workshop for selected students in Year 7 on 21st century gods. For quiz lovers we organised a number of quizzes in the library during lunch break including the Big Book Quiz on Wednesday. Thank you to everyone who took part and contributed to this wonderful event.
'Blind Date with a Book'
This February students were invited to take a chance on a book from our 'Blind Date with a Book' display. All the books were wrapped, with a few inviting clues on the outside to help the students make a choice. Students had to pick a book based on these clues and take it home. If they liked the book, they could continue reading it and if the book was not a good fit, all they have to do was return it.
